Summer Thoughts:
Have you noticed that the days are becoming shorter? Labor Day is practically upon us, and this signals the end of summer for most people. I feel a twinge of sadness each year during our Labor Day celebration. There’s a care free feeling about summer which no other season contains. People and schedules are a bit more relaxed. Picnics and swimming parties are enjoyed as in no other season. In the mid-west by the time Labor Day comes, there’s a bit of coolness in the air; nature’s preview of things to come. Of course, this isn’t true in the desert, but that’s a story for another day.
Fortunately, this twinge of sadness I mentioned doesn’t last long. The Fall season has a charm of its own; with brisk mornings, the smell of burning leaves and the excitement of football games. It’s fascinating that we have found things to celebrate during every season. The important thing is to celebrate each day of life, and the singular joy that day brings. Join me in thanksgiving as we celebrate each day.

Barbo: Perhaps parents who have children returning to school, feel relief rather than sadness when Labor Day comes around.
